I usually like a bit of texture on a bag, and honeycomb can look great.Bbut somehow the use of it here really, really doesn't work for me. I think perhaps it's the way they've covered one panel with the funny 'folds', while leaving the others smooth. I think this should really be an all-over pattern or a not-at-all pattern, and I like the result not at all!
What do you think is wrong with this bag - or am I just fussy? Perhaps it's just trying a bit too hard to look designer-esque, and falling flat on its face as a result. Opinions please!
As if the whole concept of the bumbag wasn't odd enough already, someone had to go and make it even more terrifying by adding spikes. Ashish's potent pouch comes with silver, gold and metal spikes on the front, which I imagine would be perfect for those 'out of my way' manoeuvres us Londoners are forced to carry out each day on the Tube.
The real question is, of course, who on earth wears a bumbag? The look has surely died a death wrought by two decades of endorsement by every obese, middle-aged tourist on the planet. Or are we 'bringing it back'? *looks scared*

Louis Vuitton have really taken the 'bag charm' trend to extremes in their latest spring/summer '10 runway show, with some items that look disburbingly like racoon tails (and until someone tells me otherwise, I'm going to assume that they are, in fact, animal appendages). Clipped on to shoulder bags, rucksacks and even small clutches, they swang along the runway, toted by models whose hair had been tousled into similarly voluminous giant afros.
Ignoring the 'charms' for a moment (not easy, is it?) Louis Vuitton's latest collection includes some interestingly 'loose fit' versions of its earlier styles, some reworked into larger sizes, with a candy-coloured colour palate including acid greens, stonewash denim blue, burnt orange and the ubiquitous neutral blush. There were also some interesting embellishments on the side of a few of the bags, which looked a bit like cigarettes! I love the shades and textures here, don't get me wrong: but I think they need to go back to the drawing board on some of those extras. [Images: Bagcraze]

I'm all for innovation, but I maintain that there are some styles that should never mix, and one such combination is the forced fusion of ladylike chic with what looks disturbingly like nu rave - a la this concoction from Topshop.
Neither of the 'brights' they've chosen for this bag would look especially great on their own, but together is a visual nightmare and one that may well help see off the quilted trend for good.

It looks like something you might chance upon in one of the shadier establishments of Soho, but this item is, according to its maker Alexander Wang, a bag. Worn like a waistcoat, it has a multitude of zip panels at the front, presumably so you can keep all those everyday essentials like your mobile phone, keys, spare ammunition etc close to your chest.
I don't normally say it, but it's a shame that Luisaviaroma have chosen not to display a picture of this 'bag' shown on a model, because I'm having so much trouble imagining whether this would look tough 'n' cool or absolutely ludicrous. The best mental image I'm managing is an outfit a bit like the one Sarah Connor wears in T2...be ready for armageddon!

If you'd asked me to guess who was responsible for this shopper bag I'd probably have assumed it was by someone training to design the ones they hand out at supermarkets.
I certainly wouldn't have guessed it was by reliable designer label Marni! For a canvas tote to sell for a three figure sum I'd have expected something pretty special, but instead they've given us this ordinary-looking canvas bag with a print of a scary puppet on the front of it. Coming to a bargain bin near you!

I don't think words really do this bag justice - not ones I'm allowed to publish, anyway! So instead I'm going to ponder on what the designer thought the 'pouch' on the front of this bag would accomplish. Is it mere decoration or perhaps a new form of tampon storage? Who knows -- but I couldn't help laughing when I discovered it was made by a Brazilian designer...
