Marios Schwab designs sunglasses with Mykita

mariosschwab_sunglasses.jpgMarios Schwab is one busy man. Not only has recently taken over as creative director at Halston, but he has also designed a line of sunglasses in conjunction with Mykita.

The John Lennon-style sunnies are available for both men and women, and are made from stainless steel. The frames come in candy colours such as mauve as well as darker shades including green and black.

"These are glasses created for a strong woman," said Mykita. "[It] is industrial looking but still sleek, rather cold and geometric in its shape, and harks back to glasses spotted on club kids of the 1990s."

The range retails for around €299 a pop. For more info, visit: www.mykita.com

The Olsen twins branch out into eyewear with The Row

olsentwins_therow_eyewearpreview.jpg

As two of the shadiest - and by that I mean eyewear, natch - ladies in Tinsel Town, it was only a matter of time before those too-trendy-for-their-own-good Olsens, launched their own sunglasses range.

The twin moguls have teamed up with London-based Linda Farrow Eyewear to add a sunglasses collection to their label, The Row, in time for spring. It will include four styles: a classic metal aviator, an oversized square frame, vintage-inspired brow-line rims and a pair of '60s-inspired round shades.

Luella signature shades at The Outnet

luella shades.jpgI'm still gutted that I missed the near-legendary Luella sample sale last month, but that doesn't stop me keeping my eyes peeled for a bargain from the wonderful, whimsical designer.

Bags still seem to be at a premium just now (boo hoo!) but if you still haven't found a pair of shades to see you to the end of summer, there's a great deal on Luella sunglasses at the Outnet. These yummy cream retro-style shades are 60% off, bringing their price down to just £58. Bag some here before the sun comes out again!

Blink and you'll miss it - Le Specs sunglasses available at Brent Cross pop-store... but not for long!

le_specs_pop_store_brent_cross.jpg

I have to say I feel a certain smugness right now writing about a sunglasses brand which is largely unknown here in the UK, but was huuuuge back in my part of the world growing up in the 80s. I only feel smug though because Aussie brand Le Specs are so great, with uber cool and trendy designs and are of fabulous quality and completely affordable. They were such a big part of my childhood and I'm beyond happy they've arrived (albeit for a limited time) in London.

Setting up a pop-up store in Brent Cross Shopping Centre alongside other exciting up-and-coming brands, Le Specs will showcase their range for a limited time only. The shop "popped-up" on the 23 May and will exist at Brent Cross for 8 weeks only (by my calculations, that gives you just under four weeks to get yourself out there for a nosy). I know I'll be heading there the first chance I get!

Check out Pop-Store for more info on the concept, and, of course, visit Le Specs to see what kinds of styles you can expect.

Topshop palm tree lens sunglasses

topshop_palm_tree_lens_sunglasses.jpg

If you're living in the UK, we don't have to tell you how hard it is to conjure up feelings of summery good times when one glimpse out the window is making us feel something else entirely. Oh, how we wish we had either a) some sun or b) some rose tinted glasses to help us feel a bit better about it all.

Well, it's not looking like option A is even an option at the mo, but that doesn't matter when we have something even better than option B - and that is palm tree tinted glasses, £15 from Topshop. The world may not look rosier but it'll look more tropical, that's for sure.

Jigsaw Pepi butterfly shaped frame sunglasses

jigsaw_pepi_sunglasses.jpg

Eagle-eyed Bag Lady readers will notice I am about to talk about a second pair of fabulous sunnies in the space of a week, and along with the straw trilby I spouted off about yesterday and Abi's spring blues outfit, there is no mistaking we're keen as a bean for the warmer months to arrive already!

These sunglasses are a great retro-classic shape and the tortoiseshell frame will lend themselves to matching with most of your summer wardrobe and looking chic all the while. They're a great price too - just £42 from Jigsaw.

Fendi Cubetto anthracite sunglasses

fendi_anthracite_sunglasses.jpg

The weather forecast was looking pretty good when I researched it this morning, so lunchtime today called for a yummy fresh salad and pulling up a spot in the sun to eat it in. What I hadn't accounted for, was how brightly that sun was shining and how much I was wishing I had a pair of sunglasses - any sunglasses - to stop the inevitable squinting and watery eyes, so I could just sit back and enjoy the moment.

How I wished I'd come across these Fendi Cubetto sunglasses earlier, in order to combat this little problem. The vintage aviator style is very up-to-the-minute but what I like most about them, is the fantastic grey anthracite material they are made from - it just gives them that nice final touch don't you think? They're £130 from Net-a-Porter.
