You may have to go head-to-head with me if you're interested in this shopper, as I'm thinking about putting a bid in any minute now. But don't let that put you off: there's only two days left to go on this auction, and the 'prize' is a particularly fun and decorative bag from Lulu Guinness' inimitable range.
Being a 'shopper', this bag will be sturdy and strong and eco-friendly too, as you'll be contributing to a reduction in plastic bag use that's already made a huge difference to Britain's waste mountain. Supermarket bags for life are all well and good, but I'm finding that the 'life' span of most is little more than that of the average butterfly. Place a bid today, and get your next shopping trip done in style!
Auction here, starting at £14.99.
There comes a time when we need a bag that's just great at doing all those traditional bag tasks, like carrying heavy stuff, keeping things protected from the elements and lightening the load on excursions. But if you want something that does all those things but looks fun and funky too, I'd have to recommend this tote from La Vie Devant Soie, which is practicality and style all rolled into one.
What I love about the design on this bag is the way it reminds me of an outdoor swimming pool sparkling in the sunshine. The 'mosaic' look is one that lots of designers are playing with at the moment. And did I mention that this one's made from raw silk eco-friendly too? Win!

This Jaeger bag plays on our notions of design as it effortlessly blends multiple fabrics and finishes to create something rather special. Made out of lambskin, the bag has a buttery soft feel to it, which contrasts nicely to the black patent handles and matching trims.
The body of the bag is covered with a Chanel-esque quilted effect, which makes it stylish enough to go from boardroom to bar.

Christian Louboutin is the latest designer to prove that you can have an awful lot of fun with pastels. Personally, I find it quite a relief from all those intense neons that have been rife in the accessories world for some time, and the addition of blue and yellow brights is kept to a minumum here, making for a touch of extra interest.
The outer surface of this bag is patent, so you really could use it for the 'shopping' its name suggests, without fearing spillages.

With all these Christmas fripperies diverting our attention, we're almost forgetting about the need for practical, useful bags - you know, bags you can put stuff in - so I thought I'd bring us all down to earth with this roomy leather bag from Nine West.
I've got a slightly older version of the Tammie, bought second hand and still going great guns, so can personally vouch for the practical benefits of Nine West bags. Sturdy and spacious, there's almost no guilty shopping secret you can't hide in one of these babies and they're ideal for carting a laptop and associated tems, too. This bag also comes in black if you're not taken by the pink shade, and has a fashionable candy-stripe strap.

OK so in no world I'm aware of would I spend £465 on a canvas tote, and if I ever do I'm relying on my friends to quickly lock me away for my own safety. But that doesn't stop me lusting after these oh-so-pretty toes by Lanvin, which feature the brand's trademark big ribbons on the handle.
The illustrations printed on to the bags were created especially for Lanvin's £120th birthday, and unlike your average shopper bag, both are beautifully lined with 'crease effect' satin twill. Fancy!

Jeremy Scott continues his love affair with Longchamp by unveiling his newest Pilage bag, aptly named "Bone".
His spring 2010 collection was filled with fun Flinstones inspiration, and here he has expanded that graphic theme with this ninth bag for the label. After his Gold Card" and "Floral Fights" totes, you can now look forward to this candy-coloured design featuring bone motifs.
