WHICH ONE? Michael Kors Rehearsal satchel vs. Marc by Marc Jacobs Dr. Q Groovee Satchel

mj_mk_whichone.jpg

Now this week's Which One? might be a little unfair as these two bags I've selected are by different designers, are completely different colours and have very different pricepoints (bag on left, $498; bag on right, $1,295). However, they're two of my favourite bag colours, made by two of my favourite designers (Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors) and in the long, slouchy shoulder satchel style that I love. So whether your decision is made by designer, by colour or by price... Which one would you go for? Go on, vote!

Marc Jacobs Bruna quilted tote

I love how this Marc Jacobs tote looks just like a present ready for me to open. And the raspberry colour is so summery, it looks good enough to eat. A bag that looks yummy and like a pressie? Doubly enticing - I'm sold!

The lush quilted leather and gold hardware are classic features but the belt and faux clasp really liven up proceedings, bringing it a contemporary feel. The colour will work through autumn and will inject a bit of colour into winter, meaning you won't have to give it up once summer is over. On sale now at Net-a-Porter for £570.

This might come as a surprise, but it can often be tricky to find a quality crossbody bag/satchel that is of the same standard as the leather designer bags we fork out big bucks for. I know, crazy right?

Luckily Marc by Marc Jacobs has the right idea and made this lovely satchel with sumptuous leather and sweet contrast stitching just some of the redeeming features (I'd also put the cool printed lining in that group). It's currently on sale at Bloomingdales for £278.

Love it or hate it: Marc by Marc Jacobs fall winter 2008/09 ad campaign

marcbymarc-ColeMohr.jpg

It seems like Marc Jacobs is aiming to shock or awe with his fall winter 2008/09 Marc by Marc advertising campaign starring male model, Cole Mohr. Photographed by usual MJ photographer, Juergen Teller, it features Mohr wearing nothing but a (womens?) blue and black check pea coat, black shoes and clutching a purple bag.

Do you love it or hate it?

Spot the difference: Marc Jacobs colourblock pochette and Bessie quilted shoulder bag

mj_bessie.jpg

Aside from the obvious colour difference, there's not a lot which separates these two quilted, colourblock shoulder bags - except for the price. One is Marc Jacobs and one is a Bessie polyurethane number. Unless you already know your MJ, can you figure out which is which?

Marc Jacobs Lera quilted leather tote

I may have been sitting on the fence with Marc Jacobs' colourblock pochette, but in the case of this Lera quilted tote, no umm-ing and aah-ing is necessary: I am in love, completely and utterly!

The contrast between the pretty quilting and the chunky-as chain handles somehow works and surprisingly, even the brown-black-green combo doesn't put me off!

A turn lock fastening on the front opens the bag, which has two inner compartments, a zip pocket and grey linen lining. The cream leather is just so fitting for summer, I can hardly wait for it to begin when I look at this bag.

The only drawback for me is the price - £1040 from net-a-porter - because it now has me weighing up whether I really need to book a holiday this summer after all....
