We're sorely tempted by this ostrich leather-style cross body bag at Urban Outfitters, which quite simply looks massively more expensive than its actual price. It's insanely on-trend, available in a number of fall-friendly colours, and ideal for the current boxy, workwear trend. It's also roomy and just gorgeous to look at.
As small-sized bag but with plenty of room to stash makeup, gadgets and a bulging wallet, this is just what you need to complete your urban look this winter.

One of the most un-high street items to be found on the high street this season is this intriguing silver-toned metal box clutch at French Connection. Engraved with an intricate pattern and metallic throughout, the bag actually looks more 'vintage' in real life than in this pic (it has an aged, bronzey tint to it) and is bound to attract attention.
Be warned that this item is on the tiny side for a handbag - it's more of a purse on a chain. But it is extremely pretty and the detailing on the clasp is just amazing. Wear this with a monochrome suit or delicately printed dress for maximum impact.

This very designer-led satchel style from Marc B has really cheered us up today in our end-of-the-month financial funk. It's stylish, cute and eminently affordable, making autumn/winter trends look a lot more accessible.
'The Candy Bag' has an array of fun embellishments, including reptile-style embossed straps, a shiny gold heart-shaped fob and a chain-link strap that hits all the right notes. Its fabric is marbled in a very realistic-looking way, and it's the satchel you need to get through the season in style. That's why we're making it our high street pick of the week!

Lanvin's 'Happy' bag is one of the biggest hits of the decade, but at over £500, it will also mean your bank balance taking quite a hit. That's why we love Zara for making such a shamelessly faithful copy, available either in black or deep red, complete with chain-link strap and bow.
Cute, boxy and padded throughout, this is a quick and easy way to give your outfit a 'luxe' look, and will help ease you into the evening in style.

Great news everyone: Zara, one of the last bastions of the "offline only" retail model, has finally launched its online store in the UK, and you can now buy hundreds of trend-led pieces from the store in the privacy of your home or office.
To celebrate what I think will be a very helpful development in my shopping endeavours, I had a look at the new site and picked out this gorgeous, vintage-style handbag, which is right where I'm at style-wise just now. Made from a smooth, tan leather It's got that faded glamour look about it that's huge at the moment, and looks super practical, too.

French Connection's new autumn/winter 2010 collection is in, and there are some incredibly smart and stylish items here we just can't wait to get our hands on. Prices aren't bad either, with plenty of key pieces coming in at below the £50 mark. Top of our list at the moment is their 'Piper' black leather clutch bag which is a visually pleasing, irregular shape that will add a touch of individuality to your look.
In addition to its interesting form, the clutch has an unusual-looking metallic clasp at the look the gives a subtle vintage-glamour vibe. Also available in a hi-shine purple.
