We've already seen Lady Gaga wearing this orbital hat by Nasir Mazhar on The Ellen Show earlier this year, and now we think we know where she found it. The singer must have taken a liking to it after her V magazine shoot, which we're now seeing the results of - she's wearing the space-y "barrier" headgear and not much else in some of the shots, and switches to another architectural hat and white lace as she poses in the sand. Love her or hate her, you can't dispute the lady sure wears the heck out of a hat!

Gah, it's hot! The UK is currently basking in a much-deserved heatwave (after two very rubbish summers), and suddenly there's never been a better reason to not eat your sandwich at your computer and take a proper lunch break.
Apparently employers should be expecting a lot of "extended" lunch breaks and even an increased number of "sick days" this week, as we all head to our local park to soak up the sunshine. If you're planning on doing such a thing (and we promise we won't dob you in if you do), you'll probably be needing a bit of Factor 30 and a cute hat to stop you from burning your nose. A basic straw trilby will go a long way this summer and this one from Topshop (£18) is looking very good to me at the moment... To the park I go!
Every year I love poring over the eye-catching, beautiful, bright, and often downright kerr-azy, hats worn to Ladies' Day at the Royal Ascot races (and it's always good seeing what the Queen pulls out of the bag, too!) This year's event took place yesterday and in terms of hats (and Queenie) it definitely delivered all of the above. For the good, the bad, the weird, the wacky (and to see which hats the Royals wore), click on the image below to view the gallery from Royal Ascot Ladies' Day 2009.
I am heading along to Ascot this year for the first time ever, and while it may be too late for those of you going along to Ladies Day tomorrow, I still have a few days up my sleeve to organise some amazing headgear. If you've got a few days to sort something out too, and are feeling the creative urge, then you may wish to consider actually making your own fascinator. Hats on Heads do a variety of kits with different materials and colour combinations available, so you can create a truly individual day-at-the-races look. They're priced at £30 and can be purchased at John Lewis.
I feel like it was just yesterday that I did my post on Topshop's plethora of straw trilby hats but it was in fact one of the very first posts I ever wrote for The Bag Lady, and that was over a year ago now! I guess this timeframe is somewhat interesting (well, to me at least!) because I sadly missed out on doing some major straw trilby hat-wearing last season (Topshop's styles proved to be too big for my head, boo hoo).
Funnily enough, this hat style is going to be a big hit again this summer so I'm glad I will get another chance to try this trend on for size. I have my fingers crossed that Oasis make hats for the smaller-headed among us, as I am really liking this basic grosgrain trim trilby which is priced at £14. Will let you know!
Is it just me, or after watching this music vid by Brain Slaves (formerly The Coshercot Honeys), did you also have a burning desire to wear a safari hat all summer long? Perhaps you were instead picturing yourself in a black pork-pie hat (or alternatively, a bowler Sienna Miller-style?) Whatever your hat preference, you're sure to get hat-inspired after watching this....
The sun is obviously out and shining in Beverly Hills, and any sensible model or Hollywood actress who wants to keep her face looking youthful and radiant is going to be applying that SPF like there's no tomorrow and covering up with a practical yet fashionable hat. I'm in love with the one this particular movie star is wearing - perfect for the beach and also for shading your face from the sun while running errands. Who is this chic lady?
