D&G have gone all tactile and turned to crafy pursuits to inspire their spring and summer collection for 2010.
In contrast to many of their rivals, D&G have bags in all sizes for next year's range - not just extra large. Sweet, chain-strap handbags swing alongside more heavy duty totes and shoulder bags, with a focus on contrast and texture. Leopard's still a major player here, but it's the knitting and crochet details that really stand out. Handicrafts look set to survive another season!
Most of us can only dream of owning a bag like D&G's 'Vlada', but what are Monday mornings for apart from indulding in wistful fantasies to stave off the harsh reality of the week to come?
With its giant, fairytale lock and key feature, the silk, crystal-encrusted bag is bound to capture the imaginations of many when it reaches UK shores at the end of the month. Pre-order is available now, in both the black and red variants of the bag.
Supersize isn't big enough in the fashion world: no, you've got to go oversized to contend with the likes of Kate Hudson and Gwen Stefani, just two of the many celebs who've taken to carrying ginormous bags like the Chanel XXXL classic.
This D&G bag describes itself as 'oversized', and wouldn't you know: it's on sale! The 'Miss Adventure' tote is cut from blush tan leather with leopard print panelling for a decidedly decadent shopping experience. £499 (from £1,500) at Koodos
First of all, sorry for the poor quality images, but they are just stills taken from the Dolce & Gabbana show which was 'screened' live on their website from Milan about an hour ago. Bags were structured, fur stoles were recurring and gloves were everywhere - but not in the way you'd expect.
Worn on the head as a fascinator or around the neck as a scarf, this didn't actually look as weird as it sounds. In fact, it was pretty bloomin' brilliant. Check out the whole show for yourself here. And stay tuned, as we get some better images rolling in!
Okay, I admit I wasn't feeling Dolce & Gabbana's tin foil-like candy wrapper mini tote when I featured it as a Yay or Nay bag last year. But the full-size Miss Bye Bye totes (pictured above) are a different kettle of fish.
New for Spring - and new in at eLuxury this week - they are bright, fresh and fun. Not only do they look playful on the outside with metallic coated leather in bold colours, but they're equally full of life on the inside too, thanks to a cool leopard print lining. Question is: which one would I want most? Ah, tough call...
This Dolce & Gabbana candy wrapper mini tote is quintessential Dolce & Gabbana - loud, shiny and flashy. Which means you will probably either love or hate it. The multi-coloured crinkled vinyl will tickle your fancy - or make you feel like you'd be carrying around a bag covered in tin foil. Besides the foil, I'm not sure I can get on board with the patent contrast zips and handles - a bit garish in my eyes, meaning this bag is a Nay for me. You?
It's gorgeous, no? I'm not entirely sure about the colour, but the shape and the details are just beautiful. In fact, I'm yearning here.
I love it so much that I'm thinking £585.00 isn't *that* expensive, for such a lovely bag. (I know it is really. It is. Isn't it?) Get it from my-wardrobe.com.
