Yves Saint Laurent's Bag du Jour is a classic that never really went away, but it has shot to popularity once again recently, as part of a craze for all things ladylike and refined. With its new, shimmering patent finish, the bag is smarter and more chic than ever, and it's just landed at Selfridges.
The clutch bag represents pure, understated glamour, with its black-on-black embossed YSL monogram, simple flap-over styling and devastatingly high calibre leather. Tuck one of these under your arm for the ultimate in style!

I had to share this lovely faux-snake clutch bag from Therapy, which isn't only totally on trend; it's been reduced to a silly price, too! I'm not sure why House of Fraser have knocked the cost down so much, but I'm certainly not complaining. This will be a great going-out piece for the coming season, and I love the way the snake effect bleeds into that dark, faded gold border. LOVE it!

Folksy is the ultimate UK marketplace for quirky, handmade purchases with a friendly service. This dictionary clutch from Peppermint Twist is no exception, with its classic snap clutch opening, sweet little bow, and dictionary print.

Peppermint Twist is even able to make the clutch in a larger size to fit your needs. You can buy this size
from Folksy for £32.
The site is already starting to take on the more sombre and sometimes drab tones of autumn, but I for one am not ready to throw in my beach towel and admit that summer is really coming to an end. A few days of bad weather is all we're getting, I'm sure of it, then it'll be glorious Indian summer through till October. Let's just keep believing that, shall we?
If you're with me on that, then you might want to take advantage of those balmy late-summer sales, and head to The Outnet where this 'Escape' bag by Matthew Williamson is half price. Just looking at its bright and beautiful tones is making me feel better, and with a long winter looming, we're going to need all the colour we can get!

French Connection's new autumn/winter 2010 collection is in, and there are some incredibly smart and stylish items here we just can't wait to get our hands on. Prices aren't bad either, with plenty of key pieces coming in at below the £50 mark. Top of our list at the moment is their 'Piper' black leather clutch bag which is a visually pleasing, irregular shape that will add a touch of individuality to your look.
In addition to its interesting form, the clutch has an unusual-looking metallic clasp at the look the gives a subtle vintage-glamour vibe. Also available in a hi-shine purple.

Planning on some high-impact dressing any time soon? Ted Baker's ultra-long, all-over studded clutch is a good bet for those who'd like to attract a little attention, but prefer a bit of a rock-chick vibe over out and out bling.
The clutch has a distinctive shape to it that reminds me just a little of Alexander McQueen's Stingray clutch as worn by Danielle Lineker and others. A great going-out bag from a brand that generally delivers great quality!
