In Her Bag: Katie Starmer-Smith of Atterley Road
Atterley Road has fast become one of our favourite resources for fashion, with expertly curated pieces from the likes of Whistles, Hobbs, Lamb, Zatchels, Made and more. Currently celebrating its first birthday, the site was voted fifth in Vogue's top 100 online stores: it's a roll-call of our best loveed high-end high street brands presented all in one place, along with features on how to make the most of the pieces available to buy.
The site's founder Katie Starmer-Smith is passionate about supporting labels that place an emphasis on quality, having grown tired of the throwaway attitude of many high street shops. With Atterley Road, she makes it her mission to source labels that refuse to compromise on materials and manufacture - but who still offer great value for money at attainable price points - and it's easy to see from browsing the site that she's got a sharp eye for style.
So, what does someone with such impeccable taste in clothes and accessories carry in her own handbag from day to day - and just as importantly, what sort of handbag would that be? Read on to find out more.
What's in her bag?
Name: Katie Starmer-Smith
Occupation: Founder and creative director of Atterley Road
Personal style: My style is quite French - classic with a twist. I quite like a masculine look too and am currently living in my black skinny MiH jeans and oversized white shirt.
During the day I tend to be running between meetings so my loafers are getting quite a bit of wear but I love slipping some stilettoes, such as Whistles' French 75 shoes on at night.
The Bag: It's a Marilyn bag by handbag brand, Lamb 1887. It's my latest purchase from Atterley Road and just love it - roomy enough to fit lots in, yet still looks really chic
The purse/wallet: It's a Comme des Garcons wallet I picked up in Paris on a buying trip a few months ago
The Gadgets: My iphone, which I actually couldn't do without.
Beauty Products: I don't wear much make-up during the day but love By Terry products and always have a lipgloss and blush in my handbag for a little hint of colour. Another must is a good hand cream - right now I'm using a gorgeous lavender one from L'Occitaine, which reminds me of holidays in the South of France.
The rest: My Marc by Marc Jacobs sunnies - always an essential, especially if I've been up in the middle of the night with my baby and some statement jewellery for when I need to dress up an outfit in an instant.
I also just bought this jewelled necklace from Nocturne that looks great with anything from a t-shirt to an evening dress.
