Kate Middleton carries Alexander McQueen at St Andrews fundraiser
The Duchess of Cambridge brought out another of her favourite 'recycled' outfits (we think that means worn more than once - Ed.) to a charity fundraiser she attended this week with along her husband last night at and event to raise funds for the couple's old alma mater, St. Andrews University: the prestigious Scottish establishment where the pair met in 2005. Kate last wore the delicate lace overlay dress just under a year ago when she attended the War Horse premiere in London.
Last night's event, organised for the institution's 600th Anniversary Appeal at London's Middle Temple Hall, was a lavish ceremony where guests dressed to impress - and Kate certainly didn't disappoint in her black lace gown and scarlet clutch bag, which is a customised version of a 2011 skull clutch by Alexander McQueen. Unlike the original, Kate's version has had the skull removed, and replaced with a more Royalty-friendly cluster of gemstones. We've seen that bag before too: she took it along to the Jubilee River Pageant in June.
Here's a close-up of the custom clutch, along with the 'original' version:
We couldn't help but notice that it matched the scarlet, jewelled poppy
pin that Kate was wearing to commemorate ex-servicemen and their
families as part of the Poppy appeal: a cause particularly close to
William and Kate's hearts.
What do you think of the Duchess's black lace and red accessory look?
