Paris Fashion Week: Kenzo S/S 2013 - the bags
Paris Fashion Week is drawing to a close today, and we've been focusing on the bags and accessories that have accompanied the models on their journey down the runway in the spring/summer shows. One that really caught our eye over the weekend was Kenzo, which dazzled onlookers with a series of bright garments with naturalistic print in an array of contrasting colours. We loved the dazzling effects of the pattern, and the sharp, defined silhouettes, but most of all we loved the bags that the models were carrying.
Boxy, satchel-like bags were clutched in hand, each decorated with a different combination of bold colours and patterning. The strong graphical designs gave life to the Japanese-inspired pieces, which were designed to both clash with and pick up on the forms decorating silk trouser suits, overcoats and shift dresses:
Here, a bold and beautiful tie-dye style effect is picked up by a concertina-style handbag in black leather and gold-embroidered animal print. We foresee a lot of mis-matched print and pattern on handbags next season, so now is the time to embrace that clashing print look if you're still a little nervous of doing so!
