The Michelle Obama effect: Cabas Vicky handbag's sales go through the roof
This time, Le Tanneur are the lucky recipients of Michelle's magic touch, after Valerie Trierweiler, the partner of French President Francois Hollande, gave her one of their 'Cabas Vicky' handbags. Despite the $584 price tag, sales have 'gone through the roof', and the small French manufacturing team are struggling to keep up with demand. The French First Lady also treated herself to the 'Nina' handbag, which has also seen a rise in sales.
It's a common practice for the partners of Presidents and Prime Minsters to offer their counterparts a gift from their own country to represent the skills and crafts of their people. It's nice that Valerie went for a less well known brand, rather than going for a few of the more obvious choices.
What do you think of Michelle Obama's style? Does she inspire you?
