Capes come in all shapes and sizes. There are chic black capes to keep you warm in the winter, long flowing capes often seen around the shoulders of superheroes and intricate capes designed to add some detail to an otherwise dull outfit. Back when I was at university, I remember seeing a celeb wearing a little jewellery cape, draped over a black vest top (have a feeling it was Victoria Beckham or Angelina Jolie. Someone tall and brunette) I *loved* the idea of a pretty cape to cover my upper arms, and ended up buying several. That was basically my wardrobe for the last year of uni.
Anyway, history lesson over. I'm pleased to see the beaded cape is back to pretty up dull outfits. This
gold tone bead cape necklace from River Island brings the drama back to your shoulders, and looks beautiful layered over a little black dress or vest top, jeans and heels. For a River Island piece, it's quite pricey at £80 - but there's clearly a lot of work that has gone into it!
