Fashion fact: Like shoes, you can never have too many bags. That's a rule we live by at The Bag Lady anyway. The only limitations are space and money - after all a designer handbag is a bit of a hit on the bank balance.

Thankfully fashion hire companies are around to help us feed our designer addiction without the full price tag. The Borrowers Club is one such company. They offer a wide range of designer handbags that you can rent for between one and four weeks (minus two days for delivery). Brands include Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, Dior, Prada, Chanel, Fendi, Miu Miu and Mulberry.

The Borrowers Club kindly gave me the chance to try out the service. It took me exactly five seconds to decide on a Mulberry Alexa. Obviously.

So, how does it work? Simple really. You sign up for free through the website then browse through their selection of bags. Once you spot a bag you like, click on the 'Borrow It' button and choose the dates you want to rent it for. They'll then send out the bag by special delivery.

Simple, right? Once your hire time has finished, you just pop the bag back in the Special Delivery bag they provide, and take it to your local post office.

The bag itself arrived perfectly on time, safely tucked away in a dust bag. As the bags are rented, it's likely that the bag you get will have been used a few times. So mine did look like it had been used before, but in a good way - clean and tidy but the leather was soft.

My only minor hiccup was when I got my dates wrong and sent the bag back late. Completely my fault, but I have suggested to the lovely team that it might be handy to have an automatic email reminders for disorganised people like me!

Overall, it's a great service for those who love being seen out with a different bag each week, or want a bag for a special event. Prices are really reasonable too - the Mulberry Alexa is £35 for a 5 day rental period. There's a Lulu Guinness Lips clutch on there that's perfect for a wedding later this year, and that's just £35 too.

I'll certainly be using the service again. Would you use a fashion rental service?
