Celebrities love Kat&Bee (and so do we!)
London based jewellery brand Kat&Bee is pretty special in my opinion, and I'm hoping you'll agree by the end of this piece! I've mentioned before that I prefer dainty jewellery to statement pieces, but rings are the only exception to the rule - the more I can stack, the better!
Kat Barry, the founder and creative director of Kat&Bee once worked for some of the biggest publications in the country including Elle and The Guardian, but soon found her calling in creating jewellery, and her inherent passion for customisation and style drove her to set up her own web store in 2010. With an incredible eye for detail, her designs have captured everyone from the London Fashion Week crowds to celebrities such as Fearne Cotton and Kelly Rowland.
I love my accessories to tell a story, and the rings in Kat&Bee's SS12 collection do just that. Inspired by Courtallam in the South of India, the jewellery is influenced by the healing and medicinal properties of the falls of Courtallam, with their vibrant mix of colours and beautifully crafted flowers. Each piece is named after an Indian god or meaning which translates to a healing or positive phrase such as "peace", "of perfect being" and "beloved", which is my personal favourite as it's the French translation for my name!
The designs fuse beautifully complex flowers to statement gems and Kat&Bee's trademark tough skulls, which are bound together by gold or silver wiring to create unique shapes. With each piece lovingly hand crafted, the intimate collection is seriously covetable and for the first time since the brands launch, Kat&Bee will be stocked in high fashion store Opening Ceremony in New York, LA and Japan. The price points are competitive too, ranging from a reasonable £55 for an intricate floral piece up to £205 for a statement stone, so depending on your style and your budget, there's something for everyone. For those of you who are a little closer to home, you can buy from ASOS, Cocosa and the Kat&Bee site.
