I'm going to stop calling nautical a 'trend'. It's less a trend, more a default colour scheme banged out by high street shops every March, hoping to entice shoppers into thinking about Spring, and the possibility of strolling down the croisette in big sunglasses and bateau necked tops, red wedge sandals and navy capri pants with an 'ironic' anchor-shaped necklace.

The problem is, when you see that oh so familiar red, blue and white colour scheme, complete with lots of fresh-looking stripes, you can't help but be sucked in just a little bit. There's a reason nautical sells every single Spring - people love it.

So they'll no doubt love this River Island padlock bag, with big nautical stripes and tan trim. It's plenty big enough to hold all your beach paraphenalia (or, um, your travelcard, purse, book, notes for work and makeup bag) and comes in at £50.
