From the highs of Kate's tiara to the lows of Princess Bea's pretzel, hats and fascinators were the main topic of conversation for most inpatient viewers waiting for the royal wedding to begin. Never before had we witnessed quite such a spectacle of millinery on our screens, and I suspect we may never see the like again.
Hats in 2011 are more varied than ever before, from the traditional Queenly dome to the jutting, angular Philip Treacey creations clinging for dear life to the heads of many younger and more fashion-conscious Royals and guests.
