These are just a few selected highlights from the Autumn/Winter collection at Lanvin as showcased at the recent fashion weeks. At first glance this is not the most mind-blowing collection we've seen, but these austere, church-lady handbags were the perfect fit for Alber Elbaz' dark and Gothic collection and seen close up, are simply dripping with refined elegance.

Slim and streamlined bags with short hand-held straps were conveyed down the runway by the coated and caped models who wore wide-brimmed preacher-style hats and prim and proper garments. The bags themselves were made from all types and colours of materials, and we love the polished stone in particular. Their defining characteristic was the pointed, angular edges that ensured a severity in keeping with the somewhat creepy show.
