classic-louis-vuitton-handbag.jpgBringing us close to the end of the thirties in our countdown of the most iconic bags ever, here's another one that even those with no interest in bags will recognise, from the luggage empire of Louis Vuitton. The graffiti version of the Neverfull shown here is one of the label's most popular styles, mixing urban street cred with one of the most long-established, classic designs.

Handbag History: All Louis Vuitton's handbags evolved from the label's famous travelling cases and trunks, and the original version of the Neverfull was (and still is) covered in the classic LV insignia. Since then, the bag has had a variety of makeovers, but always keeping the original shape: a canvas bag held together by neatly-cut leather.

In 2001, a collaboration with Marc Jacobs produced a limited-edition line of Vuitton bags that featured graffiti written over the monogram pattern. The graffiti reads "Louis Vuitton" and as well, on certain bags, the name of the bag (such as the Neverfull and Speedy). The graffiti version of the Neverfull was a huge success and is now among the brand's most popular bags.

In Our View: As anyone who's ever been shopping knows, a tote bag is an absolute godsend of an accessory, and the style is probably the most universal style of all time for day bags. Louis Vuittin have simply added their own unmistakable stamp to create a highly versatile bag that's instantly recognisable the world over. This of course makes it a doddle to copy, so you'll have to be careful you buy from a reputable supplier. In fact, the bag has been so widely copied that Ebay has its own guide to spotting a fake Neverfull which is worth a read for anyone who wants to buy.

Celeb Fans Heidi Montag, Paris Hilton, Hilary Duff, Amanda Seyfried and a cast of thousands.

Get the Look: Remember, only a very small fraction of all goods bearing the LV insignia are authentic! Ensure you're getting the real deal by buying direct (Louis Vuitton have a fully accessible online store). The bag is available here from £400.
