Hermes' collection for spring/summer 2010 was one of a few that made us go "hmm" here at The Bag Lady. The very equestrian, slightly S&M theme that ran through the catwalk show is a look that will never be to everybody's tastes, but it was more that brooding, slightly murky colour palate that left us longing for the more uplifting, summery tones of other collections.

Many of the bags and accessories in the collection were matched exactly to the colours and fabrics used for the garments, which we felt also looked a little 'samey'; it lacked the contrast that has been a watchword in many designers' books this season. The only thing that really made us sit up and take notice was the wickerwork version of the Kelly, which showed genuine innovation.

The accessories themselves were also a little disappointing: the Birkin took centre stage, but there were no particularly interesting re-workings of the classic style, and instead we saw it simply tuned to match the reds and browns of the garments. Further on, miniature versions of Hermes icons made for a refreshingly modern look, and we definitely approve of the wide wrist cuffs. But all in all, this show left us feeling a bit "Meh". Do you agree?
