chanel-coco-cocoon.jpgHaving seen the label's forthcoming raffia-style bags for spring/summer 2010, I can't help thinking that the only brand producing accessories that don't look like Chanel right now - is Chanel! In a bid that may or may not have been triggered by the need to stand out from the avalanche of quilting that's engulfed all of fashion lately, the label has turned things up a notch - or should we say, a tog?

Almost as if it's trying to keep warm in winter, the label is now creating super-quilted bags that are so puffed up and bloated they remind me more of sleeping bags than chic and luxurious accessories. Worn by Lily Allen in Chanel's latest ad campaign, everything about this range is inflated: there are 'puffa' style nylon bowling bags, bowling bags and shoulder bags and even luggage trolleys. It's a slightly younger look that is a big departure for the more middle-aged Chanel brand.
