When I spotted the stall selling the stylish and hard-wearing Magnolia range of leather goods at Sunday Up Market at Spitalfields, I assumed that they were something of an institution. But once I got chatting to their maker I discovered she'd only been selling her bags, belts and wallets for a couple of weeks and doesn't even yet have a website!
It's a real shame, because there are some beautiful pieces here, all very much up-to-date in terms of style, as they're made in short runs during the week prior to each weekend's market. There are going to be lots more studded items appearing in the next few weeks, so if you're in London and feel like buying a more interesting take on the style than what you'll find on the high street, Magnolia is a good bet. Prices are at around the £40-50 mark for a large, 100% leather bag. Update: Brand new stock (including lots of studs) will be on sale from the end of October.
