
I remember when I was younger and struggling to read the blackboard at school, I finally sucked it up and visited an optometrist. It's funny how for a young person, getting glasses can either be a godsend (yes! I can see!) or the end of the world. I think I might have been in between the two, as I pretty much refused to wear them until I absolutely had to, which was only because seeing what was going on up the front of the huge lecture halls at university was rather important...
Now that I wear contact lenses, I think it's even more hilarious that I find myself attracted to kooky and geeky chic glasses, which all the cool Shoreditch kids are wearing (and Zooey Deschanel too). They look smart and bookish and I doubt I'd be that embarrassed kid these days. They're 15 quid from Topshop.
