Carla Bruni-Sarkozy sues bag company over nude photo

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy isn't a happy chappy. The supermodel-turned-first lady is suing clothing company Pardon for distributing bags featuring a nude photo of her.

Ten thousand of the canvas shoppers have been made, which depict Carla next to the caption: "My guy should have bought Pardon!" The bags are being sold for three euros each, as well as being handed out for free in the French Indian Ocean island of Réunion, where Pardon is based.

"Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has exclusive and absolute rights over her image," said her lawyer. "We are going to ask for 125,000 euros in damages for the sale of this article which constitutes a moral and matrimonial attack."

France's first lady has promised to donate the sum to charity, should she win the case. This isn't the first time that Pardon have come under fire. Last year, the company upset French church leaders by selling a female G-string featuring a picture of the Virgin Mary.

"[Carla is] a public woman - you find photos of her everywhere," Peter Mertes, Pardon's founder, disputed.

Carla is already the First Lady of France and French people should give her the necessary respect. Let her do her duties as such and if she is not performing well, then they can hurled all the bad words they wanted against her. For the meantime, people in France should forget what she has done before. Being young, you tend to do anything that you wanted to do, not thinking of the consequences in the future. I know, in my heart, that Carla is a God-fearing person and being such person, you wanted to serve your countrymen. She promised to donate the money to a charity once she will win the case and that's a very nice gesture from here.
