ASK THE BAG LADY: Your questions answered

* Bag Lady, I am a guy and I need your help, do you know where I can get leather holdall/duffle-like bags? (I live in NYC but online stores are fine too) I am a teenager and I am on the mad hunt for a holdall bag because I do not want to wear a backpack anymore and I really would like to find some vibrant colored bags, I've been searching and all I find are black/brown/beige which I assume is geared more toward older men which is fine but not totally my style yet. Do you know where I can purchase some holdall bags for MENS in nyc? Please let me know. Thank you! - Chris
Hi Chris. Well, after going on the hunt for some leather holdalls in bright colours, I can now see why you were pulling your hair out! How many black/brown/beige bags can people make!? I hope that I have understood your definition of a duffel/holdall correctly - to me, it is a long weekender bag which can also sometimes double as a messenger bag with a longer strap. I should also probably let you know that I have cheated a bit, and added in a few non-leather bags, which were too fun and/or vibrant to leave out! They are all online links, but you should be able to track down some of them in person at the likes of Bloomies or Saks too. To find out pricing and product info, click through to read more.

* hi
I recently returned from a trip to Rome. whilst there I visited the new Stuart Weitzman store. Have fallen in love with a bag which i cannot find on their web site. Have e mailed them (both in Europe and USA) but have had no reply. I really regret not buying it there and then!
description is brown and black leopared print bag with black patent trim and handles. Price was appox 680 euros. Do you know name and where i can purchase. Am desperate! I look forward to hearing from you soon. - kim kidd
Hi there Kim. Travellers remorse is such a horrible feeling, I can totally relate! There's that feeling at the time of: "I might see something I like more later on". But there is also knowing if you don't, you'll come to regret not snapping it right up. I tend to just go into a bit of a manic spending frenzy when I'm on holiday because the way I see it, I can always sell something I end up not liking on eBay (well that's what I keep telling myself anyway *ahem*). Anyway, so with the Stuart Weitzman bag... I have found a bag that matches your description at Bloomingdales, but I imagine it might be from the right range but the wrong style. If it isn't the right bag, I hope that it might at least fill the gap the other bag left you with. Otherwise, get in touch with the sales assistant there and see if they can limit it down to a specific style. This one is a little more pricey than the one you mentioned too - at $1250 it comes in at closer to €900.
* Hello Bag Ladies,
I really hope you can help me. I have a rather unusual search going on... I recently visited the beautiful Barcelona, and of course I had to go shopping at El Corte Inglese, which is like the Galerie Lafayette or maybe Bloomingdales in Spain. In the shoe section, there were also clutches, and I really wanted to buy one particular clutch, but I didn't, and now I regret it. The thing is: I don't remember the brand! It is killing me. I can only describe it and hope for the bag lovin ladies to help me...
- It was a one-zipper clutch, simple, with one inside bag
- It was middle-sized, I think one could carry a small paperback book in it
- It came in different colours, all bright: Green, Yellow, Rasberry, Red or Blue
- It was made of woven leather, like a Bottega Veneta (but it was NOT Bottega Veneta)
- It cost about 160 Euro
...and I remember there was a metallic logo-thingy hanging from the zipper, two letters or something, quite big and obviously the designers logo.
I've been looking all over the internet for a clutch like this, but nothing. Can you help me? I would so much appreciate this. Thanks. - Jenny
Sorry Jenny - to be quite honest with you, this one stumps me! I have been looking around at the usual suspects (Michael Kors, Cole Haan etc) but the truth is, it could have been anyone and quite possibly, a little-known-outside-of-Spain designer. I've found a couple of alternatives which I know don't fit your requirements but are cute nonetheless. And I also figure if we put it out there for everyone else to see, someone might know which clutch you're talking about and can help you. Anyone? :)
