I'm thinking that if you seal the leather with leather conditioner or with mink oil (at saddlery shops), that that may prevent the darkening.

Or at least give it an even tone of just a bit of darker color, since mink oil does darken up leather just a bit, in an attractive, soft and lush way.

I loved the bag too until the pretty turquoise started to turn darker making it look dirty. I know that tag says that any flaws are intentional but I couldn't walk around with a bag that looked dirty. I returned the bag hoping I could simply exchange it but the three turquoise bags in stock all had that darkening on the outside of the bag (The inside still looked good).
