Top six hippest fairtrade shopper bags

cathkidstonshoppertesco.jpg

It seems not a day goes by when another supermarket chain or designer launches yet another eco-friendly shopper bag (don't get us wrong though, we think it's great). From Anya Hindmarch's I'm Not A Plastic Bag to Cath Kidston's brand spanking new shoppers for Tesco, pictured right, making sure you have the most fab tote in the queue (and showing you care about the environment) is the coolest thing to do!

Hippyshopper's Abi has come up with her six hippest fairtrade bags around. Read on to find out what they are...

Accessorize 'I heart bags' shopper

Accessorize is one brand that has picked up the trend nicely, and has also had the foresight to make its hippy shopping bags from fairtrade cotton, which is more than can be said for many designers!

Its current range, which included the lovely 'I heart bags' tote is growing all the time. See below for another design from this range which is equally just as cute.

keep calm gallery bag.jpgBow Bag by Keep Calm Gallery

Pretty and simple, this bag is hand-made with organic fairtrade cotton. The screen-printed bow would make it ideal as part of a present (its intended use is as a 're-usable gift bag'), but you know it would also look great dangling from the end of your arm...

accessorize blossom bag.jpgAccessorize Fairtrade Birds Blossom Bag

Another one from the current Accessorize range. Birds and blossom are always a winning combination, and the design on this bag is a lovely, clean and simple print. The bag is reversible with pretty floral print inside, and made from 100% fairtrade certified cotton.

Sarah Smith Fairtrade Cotton Shopper

Move over Cath Kidston; the funkiest, prettiest floral print designs are now being created by someone called Sarah Smith, and every one of her products is ethical to the core.

There are loads of different prints to choose from, but I like this cheerful red flower pattern. Check out the full range here.

I couldn't possibly resist including this quirky tribute to the plastic-dodging people of Modbury in a list of fairtrade shopping bags, even though I did only write about them yesterday! Quite simply the coolest arm candy around at present.

The best things in life are the simple things -- like this 'shop local' bag by fairtrade company Shared Earth. This is a strong, heavy-duty bag which is good news for those of us who like to buy a bottle of wine (or three) on our shopping excursions. Just make sure you don't take this one anywhere you don't speak the language or on an aeroplane -- people may laugh.
