Hold the front page! It's a bag made of newspapers

newspaperbag.jpgAs soon as I saw this bag I was transported back to my early teens, when I read an article in a magazine (probably Jackie) about making furniture out of newspapers. The theory was that if you scrunched and smoothed newspapers enough, they became amazingly strong. The article was illustrated, if memory serves, with a chair made out of newspaper, but I started small and made a cushion. I don't think it lasted the night. (Is it any wonder I didn't have a boyfriend until I was 23?)

You don't have that worry with these bags though, because, despite being made of real newspaper, they've sensibly been laminated. Made under a fair trade initiative with India, each bag is handmade using a different newspaper, making them unique. They cost just £12 from the V&A Shop.
