This promotional picture is the nice illustration of my one of my pet peeves: daytime clutches. I understand that its totally cute to bring your sexy Jimmy Choo 'Mave' to Starbucks when you are an Olson twin and don't really have things to do, and that promotional pictures aren't supposed to be realistic, but that clutch totally belies the outwardly carefree country-girl look this girl is supposed to be channeling. Seriously, where is she gonna put that cute little thing when she's romping around the country fields, Liv Tyler style (ever see that Aerosmith video?) Is she gonna hang it on that fence there where its going to snag and scratch the leather? In the grass, where she'll probably never see it again?

My complaints are largely hyperbole of course (I guess she might just be taking a quiet stroll), but my point is: a bag is meant to hold your belongings so your hands are free. For real women, doing real things (whatever they may be...grocery shopping, juggling errands, romping in fields...) a daytime clutch is not very practical. However, if you like her look, then you can see this Graham & Spencer outfit at Active Endeavors.
