White handbags used to be thought of as tacky and those who carried them were considered lacking in class. But it's not so! Done right, white is a wonderful, luxurious colour to have on your arm through the winter months. In leather or faux leather, you won't even need to worry about keeping your bag clean (white fabric on the other hand, must be a nightmare to keep smudge-free).
On the left, this fabulously oversized 'Thames' handbag from Trina Turk is actually putty-coloured, but it's very pale. It's vegetable-tanned leather and looks even roomy enough for all the unnecessary items I tote around with me. It's not a cheapie at $495, but the leather looks lovely and it's a reasonable price for a large designer bag.
On the right, the top two are from High St bag stalwart, Accessorize. The ivory bow flap shoulder bag is an elegant take on a cute granny style (£25), and the tote has lovely detailing in this season's big favourite style, pleats (£25).
Left of the bottom two, for those who like the vintage look of frame bags, is this lovely quilted 'Natalia' handbag with subtle gold hardware. It's real leather, costs £95 from Ri2k and also comes in a very nice chocolate brown.
For something very simple and elegant, take a look at this very simple envelope tote from Krizia. It looks quite Prada-esque, though the price isn't similar at all as it's just £117 from Forzieri.
