Coach's New 'Legacy' Leather Satchel

Coach_2

I know Coach is huge over in the States, but I've never particularly understood why. The bags are ok, some of them quite nice like this new 'Legacy' leather satchel, however for the prices they charge ($698 for this one, for instance), you could get a much nicer designer one for the same amount. Maybe it's because of their monogram collection - those on our Shiny Fashion Forums know how much I despise it, and maybe I'm prejudiced against Coach because of it!

I'm a British ex-pat living in the States. I hate the Coach monogram look too. However - most of my handbags are Coach bags - they make such gorgeous bags - MUCH nicer than most of the stuff I see on my frequent trips back home. What's with that ugly Radley bag thing? Is it English?? You can't go wrong with Coach - or The Bridge IMO!

Is there anyway to get a Longchamps purse repaired? I bought it in Cayman Islands so I cannot return it there.

It must indeed be a North American thing - as it usually is when it comes to fashion that is classic, well-made, high value and comes with outstanding service ;-)

As an American expat living in London, I do enjoy the more, um, "idiosyncratic" fashion & accessory choices that can be found here. But just as WAGs seem to be just a British thing (thank God!), Coach is a US thing.

I've carried Coach bags since a wee thing. They are all still in outstanding condition (Coach will fix their products for a nominal postage & handling charge, and I've had friends receive brand new bags when their old bags couldn't be repaired) and they still look au courant on the arm.

My current Coach purse is two years old, and looks better than my brand new Lanvin (which picks up Tube grime rather easily, unfortunately). I do love my Longchamps and Hogan bags as well (yes, I'm a fan of classic leather shapes), but Coach is the better value. And their shoes are also great!

The monogram collection may not be to everyone's taste, but it is only a small (and the entry level price point) portion of their collection.

  • So you don't like monograms - so I guess that means you can't like anything from Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc. etc. I have a brown Coach Legacy Tote and I have to say - it's gorgeous. Substantial, fantastic leather... it must be a North American thing. You couldn't pry it out of my cold dead hands. But then again, perhaps we should be looking forward to some more grandmother's sofas on a strap that I see over and over again here.... ;)

I happen to love Coach. I got one for each season this year and I always get complements. I am sorry I don't agree with you,I just love COACH!
