Headbands a la Reese, Charlize and Hilary

Redaliceband
I love headbands. Since I have more hair than cousin It, anything that keeps it off my face in the hot weather is ok by me. Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to be under ten or a Sloany mum to get away with an alice band. Celebs like Reese Witherspoon and Charlize Theron have shown us how to incorporate them into stylish, modern outfits. Hell, even Hilary Duff looks more sophisticated with some well-chosen headgear. To keep the look up to date, avoid the temptation to leave loads of hair out the front of the band or push it forward into a quiff. It's all about sleek hair before the band and a bit of volume behind. This band is $1.80 at Forever 21 - a bargain way to try the trend.

Ha! The first thing I thought when I saw the name Hilary on the headline was Hilary Clinton.

I think I'm going to have to pick me up some headbands, I just got a new haircut with wispy side bangs, I just know they're going to get on my nerves, so this is a good solution.

I bought a headband exactly like this one from Claire's Accessories, forgetting that they mainly cater for the pre-teen market, making it far too small for my adult sized head. :(

I also like the headbands, but they don't fit my head right and I find that as the day goes on and my body heat (head heat?) warms the plastic, it starts to lose the snug fit and falls forward or, worse, falls forward and pushes the hair forward in this weird, messy, unattractive poofiness (and I do wear it relatively close to the hairline, probably no more than an 1-2 inches away). Any solutions?

  • I do like these headbands but I have a bit of a problem with them getting painful behind my ears after a while - is there anything ou there that doesn't? Using scarves isn't really an option...
