Yay or Nay Wednesday #11

Yaynaybag11
Thanks to everyone who voted on last week's Yay or Nay bag. As I suspected, there was a mixed response to the quirky travel bag, which was the Bon Voyage weekender from London designers Pink Lining (£245). This week I've found something completely different to that one, a much more classic shape and style. So...this classic black satchel. Is it boring or beautiful? Yay or Nay and why!

Yay! What a classy looking bag--nice detailing, bu tnot overdonw. Looks like it could hold a lot without being bulky. Simple design and sleek.

Now this is lovely. I'm not sure I'd buy it, myself, but I'd say Yay if it's real leather and nay if it's plastic (what's the point of having a posh and conservative looking bag if it doesnt feel posh?)

Yay! It's classic, with a good shape, and you can't have too much black bags ;-)

Yay! Nice shape, simple details, the braiding is cool, it's a go with everything kind of bag, the only thing I wonder about is what exactly is the shoulder strap length?

I'm going to have to say Nay. I think you can have too many black bags, i.e more than one. I want this bag to be more exciting, I want it to have a hot pink satin interior, I want it to say f' you when you open the flap. Bet it doesn't though. This is the Dido of bags, pretty but dull.

nay. it's boring. if i have a black bag i'd, like comment above, want it to be classic. and exciting. i'd want it to be a real statement. what's up with the braiding, too? i find it totally unnecessary :P

NAY mostly because I do not like white thread over black leather (eww) nor do I like braiding (or whatever that is supposed to be).

Other than that the shape is gorgeous.

NAY. It's boring, and it doesn't say anything at all. There is no excitement in this bag, it doesn't speak to me.

It's pretty dull, but that in itself isn't enough to make me say Nay. However, it also looks a bit cheap to me (I agree with the above commenter about the white thread over the black leather). So I'm leaning toward Nay for this one, though if my grandmother bought it for me for Christmas I probably wouldn't take it back.

Nay, like others have said if your going for a 'classic' black it should be classic all the way, this bag is just to dull for my liking!

NAY! That is one dog ugly bag.

Posted by: MaryMargaret | November 23, 2005 10:09 PM

Nay, It is trying too hard to look like a classic.

MY Thought.... YEY ! Its Black which goes with about everything, it not too small and Not Too Large. Its about right. its got a look i cant describe exceptmabe....If I had tthe money for a top of the line purse I'd have it!

its nay - boring and cheap looking. like an 1980s bag from argos. cheap looking does not mean cheap unfort.

i do adore the the silver skin paddinton tho. i wonder how much my aged liver would fetch

nay! its too dull and boring and i bet i'd feel old holding it.

Posted by: dj | November 24, 2005 6:42 PM

Yay, although I'm not sure I'd actually go out and buy it. If it was given to me as a gift or something I'd definitely use it.

Posted by: Anna | November 24, 2005 6:44 PM

YAY! It's perfect for an occasion where you need something classy yet simple.

Oh good, that's my gift idea for my grandmother solved for this year.

Nay.

Nay. Boring. Librarianish.

Yay. Not a real enthusiastic yay, but yay nonetheless. It's simple and practical. I like the braiding.
