I'm such a sucker for anything soft and girlie, and that's what Lulu Guinness, queen of retro glam, does best. This gorgeous beaded number (the 'Velvet Holiday Hobo') would be perfect for all those Christmas parties I won't be invited to this year. I can just imagine it with matching velvet shoes and a little black dress. So if anyone has a spare $228, you know what to do with it. All party invites will be gratefully accepted, too.
Only a few hours ago I was discussing Mary-Kate Olsen's £120 eternity shawl (a posh scarf) and vowing to get my knitting needles out and construct something similar for myself. And then I came across this 'Michelle' scarf at Delias. Almost identical, but far more practical financially speaking at $22.50. So now even those of you without a crafty bone in your body can get the look. Why do I always spot the cheap option five hours later?

Apparently this bag is black, which upset me a little bit as I thought I'd found a gorgeous petrol blue metallic number. But this one gets off lightly compared to the brown...which looks more like Ribena purple to me. Perhaps I need to sort out my monitor?! Either way, the whipstitch shape and the fringe details make for a pretty retro number. It's by Aeneta and called 'Sisi', and it's $360 from Feng Junk, but use the code 'FALL05' and you'll get yourself 15% off.
Ok, so Mary-Kate Olsen is, apparently, a bit of a fashion icon for teenage girls. Though there's no denying she and her sis scrub up well on the red carpet, I can't help but wonder when it became cool to dress like a homeless person. To me, hobo is a bag, not a way of life! That said, the girl does know how to accessorise, and her eternity shawl (essentially just a big circle of knitted mohair) will be great when the temperature drops. It's for sale at ASOS for £120 / $228, so that better be some bloody special wool! I think I'm going to whip the knitting needles out instead. It's therapeutic, you know...
Will the boho hobo ever truly go out of fashion? This season may be all about prim, proper and feminine bags, but you can't beat a roomy, squashy leather shoulder bag for practicality. I love the worn-in look of the grey-blue leather and the pretty flower pattern on this bag from The Sak, but most of all, I love the price. It's only $79, but could easily pass for one of those cult, hard-to-find designer items that cost upwards of $300.
I used to hate pearls when I was younger. They always made me think of old women and badly dressed brides in meringue-like dresses. But as I've grown older I've grown to love them, and now most of my favourite jewellery is pearl encrusted. This is possibly why this over the top offering from Valentino caught my eye. Covered in faux pearls and trimmed with leather, it's probably not worth the $1,975 that's being asked for it, but it would look pretty with all this season's Victoriana!
Fancy accessorising like the stars of Buffy The Vampire Slayer? Peggy Li's creations have been sported by loads of Buffy characters - Willow, Tara, Anya, Dawn and the slayer herself - and some of the designs, like Willow's Blue Chalcedony necklace, are still available to buy online. Aside from the celeb finds, the current jewellery collection contains some beautiful pieces at reasonable prices, including (clockwise from top left) the Earth, Water, Fire necklace ($89), LA Sunset earrings ($29), Glow Stix necklace ($79) and Silver Swirl earrings ($49). Simply gorgeous.
