Though I find the name just a tad insulting (I already am a fashionista, thank you very much!) the theory behind Be A Fashionista is, quite frankly, the stuff that dreams are made of. You can get designer bags at a fraction of the price, and swap them when you get bored! Too good to be true? Read on...

Taking it's cue from the American websites that have been offering this service for a while, we Brits finally have a chance to 'rent' designer bags. It's a bit like those online DVD rental companies. You pay a monthly fee and can choose which bag you'd like to show off to your friends for a while. You keep it as long as you wish, and when you're bored you send it back and choose another. This way, you never have to worry about spending a fortune on a bag only for your best mate to come back from her holiday in Turkey with a £30 copy that looks identical, and you'll never live in fear of looking like a footballers wife with whatever is the easiest designer bag to get withough joining a waiting list.

Be A Fashionista has various levels of membership. A 'Diva In Training member' (£29.95 per month) can expect bags from Ugg Australia, Antik Batik and Miu Miu. A 'Style Guru' (£49.95 per month) gets Gucci, Galliano and Prada, and a Fashionista (£99.95 per month) gets Dolce & Gabbana, Chloe and the Mulberry Roxy. For Louis Vuitton, Fendi and Marc Jacobs you need to pay an 'Uber Collection' of anything from £25 to over £200 a month.

Membership is quite expensive, and after a while for what you pay to 'rent' these bags you could have saved to buy a bag of your own, but the appeal of this is that you can get the latest bags, and you never have the chance to get bored of them. Of course if you happen to get mugged while you're toting your borrowed Gucci monogram, you might be in trouble...
